U.S. wholesale inventories rise slightly, sales extend gains

WASHINGTON, July 12 (Reuters) - U.S. wholesale inventories

rose marginally in May as automobile stocks tumbled, suggesting

inventory investment likely remained a drag on economic growth

in the second quarter.
